Payment by Ukash

Written on Thu 07 Mar 2013

We have been notified about a possible fraudulent seller who is asking for payment using UKash. We don’t know for certain that he is a fraudster, though there are plenty of good reasons to suspect him. He calls himself Joseph Ennis yet doesn’t know how to spell Joseph. So it seems pretty dodgy to us.

If you want to talk to Joseph Ennis about his exploits then you can contact him on 07742 706 290. He registered on Scarlet Mist with a different phone number, but this seems to be the one that he uses.

UKash transfers are secure in themselves, but nonetheless we do not recommend any form of electronic payment methods because of the risks that you are dealing with a fraudster.

I saw this sellers tickets as they came through as an Alert. I got three messages in quick succession, which I thought was odd. I then checked his seller history and saw he lived nowhere near the gig and also had some other high profile tickets on sale as well. But no history of successful sales or buys. So I gave it wide berth. Good to know my Spidey sense is still working!Well done Scarlet Mist, you were on this in lightening time, which is really reassuring.

I’ve been trying to get tickets for Micky Flanagan through The Mist recently and one bloke in Hull, by the name of ThomasMitchell1122, had 4 tickets to sell. As per his advert I texted him before clicking the ‘buy now’ button, and he was extremely quick off the mark to get back to me, too quick.  He suggested I pay using Ukash (which I had never heard of), and even offered to find me the nearest shop from which I could organise the transaction, and went on to explain that he works for Parcel Force so if I gave him my address details he’d send the tickets to me straight away….it all seemed a bit off to me, so I declined his offer saying I’d rather get some from closer to home that I could actually go and pick up, and I checked his profile. Sure enough he’d sold a lot of tickets that week. Slightly suspicious thought I! Why would anyone bother buying legit tickets just to sell them on at face value? Well, if he was telling the truth about working for Parcel Force then maybe there’s your answer. Anyway, that’s just speculation. But please be careful folks, I’m happy to see he’s been reported already as I was just about to do the same…..

We have had another report about this scammer.

His number on the website is as above but he was messaging me from a different number (07761569421). He requested payment of £250 through Ukash for 4 x Fleetwood Mac tickets in Glasgow. I have never used Scarlet Mist or Ukash before and he told me that I need to buy a voucher from a local shop then email it to him at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) (a fake Parcelforce email, he said he works at Parcelforce). Having suspected a scam I found out that the Ukash website among other things advises people NOT to send whole or partial voucher details via email as you will lose your money and its only to be used via official merchantspartners not for person to person or escrow services. When I googled the number he has text me from it came up with ads for many high profile concerts and him saying that he is based in Swansea but telling me he is based in Hull, Yorkshire. I have reported this guy to fraud action UK.
