Welcome back - a lot has changed

Welcome back to all the users of our old site.

Its good to be back!

The new-look site has been a total ground-up rebuild, and has allowed us to add new features and functionality that was missing from the old version. The core premise of Scarlet Mist remains the same. We provide a service so that genuine music fans can trade tickets with one another at face-value, without having to use ticket touts or scalpers. And we want to make the whole experience as pleasant and sociable as possible.

User Profiles

We have created User Profiles for new users. Your profile allows you to post a little bit of information about yourself - the music you like and the sort of person you are - and it also has a photograph. We encourage you to post a photo - we all like to know who we're dealing with, and it makes it easier for us to find one another at gigs and festivals.

User Profiles has also allowed us to give a bit of a 'seller history' which makes security a bit easier. But we know that lots of users only use the site occasionally.

Scarlet Mates

We have always known that some sellers (or buyers) are looking for somebody to go to the gig/festival with. We have made this into a feature that we've called 'Scarlet Mates'. If you like unusual music, or you don't have anyone to go to the show with then you can find a Scarlet Mate to go with. This feature is entirely optional and is at the discretion of the seller.

Instant Sale or Offers

Our previous site stopped displaying tickets as soon as somebody clicked to buy them. Most of the time this worked well, and it prevented sellers from getting inundated with disappointed would-be buyers. So we have made this an option for the seller when he or she puts a ticket on sale. If you opt for an Instant Sale then the ticket will be removed from display as soon as someone offers to buy it. On the other hand, if you opt to receive Offers then the ticket will remain on display until you pick one of the offers.

Taking offers is potentially risky for the seller, because the person making the offer might have made other arrangements. So if you wait too long you might not sell the ticket at all. Ticket sales on Scarlet Mist are not legally binding, and buyers who make offers are entitled to change their mind if you spend too long twiddling your thumbs.

Taking offers is mandatory for sales below face value, for swaps and for Scarlet Mates. It gives the seller the opportunity to decide whether or not to accept.

Offers below face value and Swaps

If an event is not sold out then you might want to sell it for below face value. Buyers who buy from you are taking a bit of a risk, especially if there are tickets still on sale at the box office, so they will expect to get a discount on the price.

Some people want to swap their tickets -- for example standing for seated, or Tuesday night for Wednesday night. If you want to swap your ticket then you can take offers - its your choice what you accept.

My Scarlet - see your Offers Tickets and Alerts

We have brought all your tickets together into a single page, so that you can see the status of all of them. You can also use your My Scarlet page to edit your tickets, your offers, your alerts and your personal details and profile.

Social Media

We know that Word of Mouth is the best form of advertising, and we encourage you to spread the word about Scarlet Mist. The more that people know about us then the more likely you'll be to find a Buyer or Seller. So we've put Facebook, Twitter and Google+ buttons on the site to make it easier.

You can also 'Tweet your Ticket' (on Twitter, Facebook of Google+) when you have put a ticket on sale. You might find that this attracts a buyer to you, or that one of your distant friends decides to become a Scarlet Mate for the evening.

Content Management System and Server

We've moved to a new CMS and Server. Hopefully it will be easier for us to maintain and run the site.

Security

We have spent a lot of time looking at ways of making the site more secure against fraudsters and scumbags. Unfortunately we cannot provide a totally watertight guarantee, but we've tightened up some of the more obvious holes. We have been liasing with the police on this, and have got a good relationship with them. We have also altered our Terms and Conditions to make it clear that we will contact the police when appropriate and will pass on to them any information that may be useful in preventing fraudsters.

Blog and News

Scarlett's Blog is now integrated into the site. So we'll probably shut down the MySpace blog soon.

New-look graphics

We have had some new graphics drawn for us, which we hope comes clearer to symbolising what Scarlet Mist is all about.
